DIVERSE Science Committee

Developing innovative science

The DIVERSE Science Committee will help the project achieve its objectives of developing innovative science that informs practice and meets the needs of its project partners. It will also ensure Collaboration and communication between the project’s different themes and among all researchers involved, which is key to the project’s success

Informing the Steering Committee

The Science Committee aims to provide expert scientific advice and recommendations to inform the steering committee’s decision-making. Including (but not limited to): assessing scientific evidence; reviewing research findings; Identifying knowledge gaps; provide recommendations for actions; graduate student staffing; funding.

Objectives of the Science Committee

FACILITATE KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER

Promoting the exchange of knowledge between academia, government, and industry, and reporting on the progress of research projects.

DIVERSE Steering Committee

Connecting the whole project together

The DIVERSE project is pan-Canadian and composed of six different themes, where interaction and collaboration across partners, researchers, Highly Qualified Personnel (HQP), and other project stakeholders is vital. For the project to remain focused on accomplishing its core objectives on time and effectively, we have created a project Steering Committee. Also, with this diversity of parties engaged in the project, the steering committee will be an occasion for them to contribute to developing relevant, innovative, and socially acceptable tools and approaches to managing forests. Through their complementary roles and activities, the involvement of these parties will provide a unique opportunity for discussion, reflection, and development of concrete and innovative solutions that promise to meet each other’s needs and constraints.

Setting and monitoring goals

The Steering Committee ensures the program is well-managed, effective, responsive to the needs of its partners and achieves its objectives, including (but not limited to):  Setting program goals and objectives; reviewing and approving program plans and budgets; monitoring progress; and providing guidance on program direction and priorities.

Objectives of the Steering Committee
