Simon is a master’s student in biology, interested in forest ecology and the effects of climate change on tree growth. His project focuses on the intrinsic water-use efficiency (iWUE) and productivity of several temperate deciduous species. He examines how water availability, at different spatial and temporal scales, influences these processes and interacts with tree functional traits, such as wood density. What excites him about the DIVERSE project is gaining a better understanding of forest resilience and vulnerability to climate variability.
