DIVERSE Welcomes Its New Western Coordinator

The DIVERSE Project has a new member in its team! We have hired Kathryn Knodel to be the new Western Coordinator and she will be based at the University of Alberta!

Kathryn is very excited to join the Diverse team as the Western Coordinator. She has a BSc in Biology from The King’s University in Edmonton, which she completed just over a year ago in April 2023. Her undergrad was where she first discovered her passion for research and an interest in forest ecology and conservation. Prior to joining the Diverse team, Kathryn worked at Alberta Canola Producers Commission as their Research Coordinator, overseeing research project funding and programs.

Though she now lives in Edmonton, she was raised in the Vancouver area, where her passion for the environment and nature first took hold through regular hikes and camping trips throughout BC with her family.

She can’t wait to delve more into forest ecology and forestry during her time on the Diverse team, and is very glad to be joining on a project that can have a lasting positive impact for Canadian forests.

Please join us in welcoming Kathryn to the DIVERSE Team! She can be reached at kjknodel@ualberta.ca.
